The Sanctuary. Where vacation is sacred.

Our rental, known by locals as "The Sanctuary", was fully renovated during and opened in 2017. Inside a 60 year old church, this rental is designed with creativity and relationship-building as our primary goal. Perfect for large groups, families and corporations, The Sanctuary includes an English pub styled living room, a charming indoor village dining room & spacious chef kitchen. EVENTS: Guests are allowed to host events during their stay. The Deck is perfect for corporate events, family reunions etc. Inquire or view our larger listings for details. **NOTE: In order to host event at the Sanctuary/Monastery, guests must rent the property as a vacation rental for a minimum of 2 nights (weekdays) or 3 nights (weekends).

Also, wedding parties are required to rent the entire 20BR Market property ( to host ceremonies, receptions, etc.

The Space

Built inside a 1950's church, our English Pub living room boasts custom brick walls, wood panelling, golden accents, oil paintings, original 60 year old refinished hardwood floors, copper panel ceilings and, not to be forgotten, a 6 foot diameter stain glass centerpiece.

Guest Access

2800 square foot converted church and bunk room. 1200 square foot event deck with 21' wide wine barrel wall. Plenty of parking on site & tour bus parking in front.

Neighborhood Review

Very close to downtown (only $10 Uber), our vacation rental is located in a commercial neighborhood. We have a 26,000 square foot property with 3 vacation rentals and no neighbors. This will allow you to have events but still be close to downtown.

Getting Around

Close to downtown, only 2 minute drive. Uber for less than $10 to downtown, Coronado, Balboa Park, South Park or Little Italy. Centrally located.

"This was a great space for our group of 27. The outdoor patio was very spacious and allowed for our group to spread out and enjoy our evening. The house has LOTS of kitchen amenities which were great. Communication between our host were never an issue. Good Life Resorts Cancellation Policy.


·     Cancellation must be made within 48 hours of reservation and at least 60 full days prior to listing local check-in time (4pm). After 48 hours, the 50% deposit is non-refundable.

*For a 50% REFUND-

·     Cancellation must be made 60 full days prior to the local check in time (4pm) otherwise no refund. For example, if check in is on Friday, cancel by Friday 60 days before check in time for 50%. 

·     If remaining balance is not paid by the 60thday from check in date, your reservation will be cancelled automatically by 4 pm. And your 50% deposit will be forfeited. You may book the property with the remaining 50% balance only if it is still available. A reminder to pay remaining balance will be sent 10 days before due date (70 days before arrival)

*Within 60 days from check in-

·     If you cancel less than 60 days in advance or decide to leave early after check in, the nights not spent are not refunded. Any amount paid will be forfeited

-If you are considering a 3 night reservation more than 120 days in advance from the check in time, you may pay for a 7 day hold and tour of the rental for $100. The tour must take place within the time period of the 7 day hold. 

*Credit card fees:  guest agrees to pay credit card fees of 3.5% for every booking. In addition, any refunds will be charged an additional 1.5%. These bank fees are for all credit cards.
